As the holiday season approaches, many people have begun planning tourist trips outside the city, be it using public transportation or by private vehicle. Well, if you are one of the people who want to take a trip by driving your own car, then you will pass the toll road and find many rest area facilities. You can take advantage of these facilities to rest so that your physical condition can stay in shape until you reach the destination.
As we know, all drivers of motor vehicles are required to stop for a while after driving for 4 consecutive hours. The regulation was issued by the government through Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation. We must obey these rules so that focus and concentration while driving can be maintained properly.
For the toll road area itself, you can stop for a while at the rest area. Here, you can rest, sleep, refuel, and much more.
What Is a Rest Area?
Rest area is a facility that can be used by toll road users to rest. Rest areas are also known as TIP, namely Places of Rest and Service. So, toll road users while in the rest area can not only rest but also be able to do various other activities because there are various facilities provided in it. Examples include eating, worshipping, defecating/ urinating, refreshing, shopping, refueling oil, and others.
Even so, please note that the rest area is divided into several types according to the facilities available in it. Therefore, between one rest area and another rest area can have differences regarding the completeness of the facilities it provides.
What is the function of the rest area?
As we mentioned earlier, the rest area is a place to rest toll road users. However, with the various facilities provided, the rest area can also have other functions. Broadly speaking, here are the main functions of the rest area:
- As a resting place for toll road users so that they can get back in shape when continuing their journey.
- As a refreshing place because many rest areas have beautiful natural scenery, and provide many unique photo spots.
